Compare written proposals with the same equipment purpose, installation scope and maintenance period. A low equipment-only price and a complete installed proposal are different purchases.
Build a like-for-like comparison
| Item | Ask for | Why it changes cost |
|---|---|---|
| Equipment | Exact model, media, capacity and supported claims | Similar tank sizes do not establish equivalent performance. |
| Installation | Pipe work, bypass, drain, power and startup | Site work can exceed an advertised standard installation. |
| Maintenance | Consumables, frequency and service labor | Replacement supplies affect the ownership budget. |
| Warranty | Parts, labor, exclusions and service responsibility | A warranty label does not explain every covered expense. |
Use illustrative budgets carefully
The pricing page shows September 2026 illustrative examples. They are not a survey of Pembroke Pines market rates, a binding provider offer or a guarantee of what is included. Obtain a dated proposal for the actual property. Ask whether permits, difficult access, plumbing reroutes, disposal and any refrigerator connection are included.
Compare ownership over the same period
Write down the quoted installed price, expected filter or media replacements, salt if applicable, planned service and any known optional work. Compare the same period and usage assumptions across proposals. Ask the provider to distinguish recommended maintenance from conditions that would require additional service. This is a budgeting method, not a prediction of exact future expenses.
Avoid buying an unnecessary combination
Start with your measured concern and desired taps. Whole-house filtration and RO serve different locations. A softener has a separate hardness goal. Request a reason for each component and a way to check its operation; more components do not automatically make the proposal better.
For City-supplied properties, use the local report guide as context and confirm conditions at the property. For a private well, appropriate testing can change the entire treatment scope, so a city-water budgeting example may not fit.
